The Muppets. I laughed, I cried - in a good way

Was so looking forward to The Muppets and as it got closer there was a slight tinge of worry, “what if Disney’s ruined them”…shouldn’t have worried! The film was great, would really like to know what today’s children make of it, at times it felt like the script was more  for the benefit of the adults, those of us who watched the orignal Muppet Show every Saturday evening on ITV… that suited me down to the ground. I cried 3 times, first was a lump in the throat at the picture on the wall of Henson and Kermit, second - the rendition of “The Rainbow Connection” and thirdly the finale. But all in a very good way. Seriously that’s the first time I’ve shed tears of genuine emotion other than frustration in *years*, have always been so emotionally deadened by Citalopram that the fat tears rolling down both cheeks were quite an achievement. Think the nostalgia pang is quite well explained in Madmen, the Carousel, and the Pang of Nostalgia in the Walking Dead. Remembering back to the original Muppet Movie must have been around 10 when it came out and Kermit was strumming his banjo in the swamp singing The Rainbow Connection, such memories of happier times. Beautiful. I think I’ll be seeing this film more than once. Amazing, just the tonic I needed.
